The use of marine animals as a source of medicinal ingredients has been widely carried out in Indonesia. Sponges are one of the marine animals that are of concern to scientists which can be a source of medicines. “In Indonesia, according to research by experts, there are approximately 700 types of sponges,” said Dr Beginer Subhan, an expert on marine biodiversity at IPB University at the International Webinar “Medical Herbs: from Garden to Kitchen” organized by the State University of Gorontalo, University of Malaysia Terengganu and several universities in Indonesia, 30/9.
