Every living thing generally has DNA material in its body that can decay in the environment it occupies. Either due to metabolic processes, tissues and cells, or come from saliva or other excretory materials. This decomposed genetic material can be further analyzed using the concept of DNA Metabarcoding to determine the species. This method of identifying living things based on environmental samples is known as Environmental DNA Metabarcoding.
