Department of Silviculture, Faculty of Forestry, IPB University once again held a DSVK series webinar themed “Prevention of Forest and Peatland Fires through Ground Water Level (GWL)”, (3/7). In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Bambang Hero Saharjo, a lecturer at IPB University from the Forest Protection Division, Department of Silviculture, Faculty of Forestry said that if peatland control such as oil palm and sago plantations had not been carried out properly so that it could become a time bomb. The characteristics of peat are very important to know so that their management and control can be effectively carried out. That is also because the making of canals or rewetting has not been able to overcome the fire.
