In a Webinar entitled “Palm Oil in Food: Health Issue and Market Trend” which was held by the Center for Southeast Asian Food and Agricultural Science and Technology Center (Seafast Center) IPB University some time ago, the Chancellor of IPB University, Prof. Arif Satria in his speech outlined the potential development of derivative products from palm oil. “There have been many innovations from IPB University related to palm oil for food, energy, medical, and so on. There have also been many biomaterial innovations. Palm oil waste is used to make bulletproof vests, helmets, organic biosanitizers, to clothing products/jackets from palm waste. Heat-resistant jackets, cool, not easily damaged, does not fade. The technology is already in IPB University.”
